2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Luke 4:17
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18* The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19* To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20* And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21* And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

JESUS COMMANDS THOSE WHO BELIEVE TO HEAL THE SICK

Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20* And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

GIFTS OF HEALING

1Corinthians 12:
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
&8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

INTERCEDE FOR THE SICK

And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 4:14
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15* For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16* Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 5:1
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

REPENT AND BE HEALED

VISIT THE SICK

Matt 25:
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32* And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33* And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34* Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35* For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36* Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37* Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38* When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39* Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40* And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41* Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42* For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43* I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44* Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45* Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46* And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

HEALING STORIES FROM THE BIBLE

FRIENDS "RAISE THE ROOF" TO GET TO JESUS

Mark 2:1
And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3* And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4* And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5* When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6* But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7* Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8* And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
9* Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10* But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11* I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

SAUL HEALED AFTER BEING STRUCK BLIND

Acts 9:
10* And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. 11* And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, 12* And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. 13* Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: 14* And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. 15* But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: 16* For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. 17* And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. 18* And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

AENEAS HEALED OF PALSY

Acts 9:
32* And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. 33* And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. 34* And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. 35* And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

TABITHA (DORCAS) BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE

36* Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. 37* And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38* And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. 39* Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40* But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41* And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. 42* And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

SNAKE BITES PAUL AND FATHER OF PUBLIUS HEALED OF FEVER AND BLOODY FLUX

Acts 28:
1* And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. 2* And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold. 3* And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. 4* And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. 7* In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously. 8* And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. 9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
